So here we are the first day of 2013 and many people are thinking about new years resolutions. As you think about your wishes for this year we also need to ask ourselves are we really being proactive in our actions. If these actions are about change what are we doing to make these changes in our lives? Are we just hoping to get a better job or lose more weight this year or are we making plans to see these changes take place in our lives?
We all have big dreams for our lives but if we do not make strides towards these dreams we will not see them come to pass.
If healing is your dream this year God can heal you but He also will ask you to be a doer. We see an example of this in John 5 as Jesus heals a man at the pool. Jesus gives the man instructions:
"Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk. At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked." (John 5:8-9)
How long are we waiting for our miracle or our dream to happen without remembering we must have faith that our gracious Heavenly Father will provide for us. We must have blind faith as this man learned and sometimes God will call us to walk before we are able to. God loves His children who attempt to walk even though they can only manage to stumble.
So it is now 2013 and maybe some things did not work out in 2012 but that is okay. What are you going to do this year to get closer to your dreams? I have a friend who is way beyond being over qualified for her current job. Her dream is to have her own business using the degree she has and she is in agony because she is not there. She cannot imagine doing anything else because she knows it is a job God designed her for. It is her plan A so to speak. If you are doing anything but plan A what is holding you back?
We know God is our intelligent creator so are you trusting Him with your life to fulfill your plan A? Also, what are you doing to get closer to living out your plan A? Some times we have to take baby steps before we are living out our dream but we must be willing to keep moving our feet if we are trusting God with our lives.
"By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went forth to a place which he was destined to receive as an inheritance. And he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go." (Hebrews 11:8)

What is your Greatest Pursuit in Life?
My greatest pursuit in life is God.
I purposed this question a few months ago when i asked the difference between pursuing and seeking God. What are you doing?
Now I felt God guiding me to write about what is your motivation while you are pursuing your goal. Is it the blessings themselves? Are they becoming your motivating factor? Blessings should be an effect from the blessings that come from God. It should never feel like the end game. We should never feel that we now are all set because we received this one blessing. Blessing are awesome and they weren't mean for them to give you a false sense of security of independent strength.
Yes we receive this awe-inspiring blessing does the blessing become a driving force or does it become a by product from obeying God's word and commands he has for his children.
God always wants to rescue us. Our motivation should not be focused on the money he blesses us with or any other attractive blessing. Our true pursuit and motivation should be to seek God more. Can you imagine our Heavenly Father loves to bless us because he knows eventually we will come to him and really talk to Him. The question are you going to Him because you love and adore your Heavenly Father? Or is it because you need more blessings? Do you receive the blessing and then when you feel your independent weakness setting it you realize how much you need God again.
In life our society has created this independent persona. As if we only need ourselves to be strong and to "take on the world". This is extremely sad because all my Brothers and Sisters know how much they need our Heavenly Father.
To be honest I started writing this tonight after reflecting on all the wonderful blessings that have come into my life this weekend. I must remember not to get caught up in the attractiveness of the gift but in the giver. The Giver is the one I desire, the one I Love. If anything I don't want these blessings to stop not because it means I get more things but because it means I will press into Gods word and His presence like never before.

Do You Need to be Rescued??
This past sunday our pastor at Fellowship Church (Grand Junction, CO) spoke a message titled, "Rescue me". He talked about a very important point and pardon if this seems too aggressive but, "Stop talking about your problems to people who cannot rescue you".
How often do we gossip to others about our own personal issues?? What good does it do us or anyone for that matter by telling others about it? They certainly cannot rescue us from that pit no matter how deep it is. Only one person can do that....God.
God loves you and wants you to trust Him with everything from the smallest problem to your biggest life changing event. After all it is the attention God wants from us. Especially when we are constantly seeking Him in prayer. It is in that constant relationship that our faith develops and we start to pursue God with a unrelenting spirit.
In thinking about this how beautiful is this transformation that God is doing in our lives when seeking Him results in Him giving us more than we asked for.
So if you need to be rescued no man on earth can help you but our Heavenly Father is waiting for you to ask Him. He is not going to force you to seek him. Don't try to hide or bury the fact that you need to be rescued.
Seek help in our Father who first loved us.
1 John 4:19, "We love because he first loved us".

The Pursuit
The Pursuit of God-What does it mean to Pursue?
Not just seeking God but pursuing Him like a cop pursues a "suspect". A cop is not just seeking--but is active with his pursuit. He will not stop until he is successful in his "capture". Shouldn't we all be in an active pursuit of God?
Like a treasure hunter we should be so wrapped up in pursuing God that it consumes us. At least that is what I want. In seeking Him I can learn His truth--His way (Bible knowledge) but by pursuing Him, HE becomes my love--my main focus. His word transforms me from the inside out. Where some may call me radical about God or even addicted to God--I'd rather be addicted to God in whom I have eternal life than addicted to things of this world which are superficial and only leave me searching.
This pursuit of God fills the void in my heart that longs for unconditional love. A void that I once thought only my earthly parents could fill. Now I know that void was the love--the longing--I have for my Heavenly Father--my Abba and more importantly the love He has for me.
The love He has for us is what drives our pursuit. A.W. Tozer refers to this as prevenient grace--in order for us to pursue Him, He must of pursued us first. Our Heavenly Father must love each one of us so greatly it goes beyond what we can comprehend or even put into words in a way that can describe His never-ending and unconditional love for us.
Are you seeking God or are you pursuing Him?? I was motivated to ask myself this question because I am in the middle of a book called The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer.
One of the study questions is "What does being a Christian mean"? What classifies you as being a "Christian"? After much thought and prayer being a Christian is much more than just proclaiming your belief in God. To me it consists of three things:
1.) By having a heart that seeks God with all I am.
2.) Surrendering to HIS will. As Proverbs 16:9 states, "In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps."
3.) Allowing God to mold me.

It is more than a prayer of salvation that we call ourselves Christians. It is an action of the heart to decide to turn away from the "old self" and live in the new creation God has for us. As Ephesians 4 starting in verse 17 is titled: Instructions for Christian Living and in some version it is called "Children of the Light". When we apply these principles to live as children of the light we are no longer living with bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander, and malice but instead strive to be kind, compassionate, loving, and forgiving.
So again are we just "seeking" God like we seek to enjoy great food? Dictionary.com defines seek as:
- to go in search or quest of: to seek the truth.
- to try to find or discover by searching or questioning.
- to try to obtain.
- to try or attempt
Or are we pursuing God like a detective who searches for a suspect? The definition of pursuing is:
- an effort to secure or attain; quest.
- any occupation, pastime, or the like, in which a person is engaged regularly.
We seek to satisfy an emptiness in our soul. An emptiness The Psalms says that was put there on purpose by God. An emptiness so deep nothing can satisfy it except God himself. Of course it is not just His love we seek but His guidance, and His Forgiveness.
