Too common is a "best life now" or victory approach that insinuates Christians should never suffer. Or a karma like approach - if I'm a good Christian nothing bad will happen to me. Yet, Job was a good and righteous man and suffered greatly. Have you read Randy Alcorn's book "If God Is Good: Faith in the Midst of Suffering and Evil"? I've act...I can relate to this feeling as well! I've actually been really "down" recently because I just can't connect to my family the way I'd like. It reminds me how grateful I am for friends God has brought into my life even by the Internet! :-) I've never felt at "home" anywhere, and honestly I doubt I ever will. This is not our home, so I think that's why it can feel "off." It's so perplexing to see Christians even so conformed to this world. I feel like the odd ball! I posted a blog recently called "unpopular," and it was mostly referring to my stance as far as business goes - refusing to do anything business related on Sundays and refusing to support charities to "look good" because I know they don't support what I believe. It's uncomfortable at times, but the point of it is it's supposed to feel uncomfortable! This is not our home and our treasure is waiting in Heaven! The moment I start to feel comfortable with worldly living is the moment I know I need to focus back on God! I am praying for you and truly appreciate your blog and your sharing from your heart. I've been homeless twice, and it was pretty rough both times -- the first time I was single, the second I was married and had a son. Anyway, that's semantics. I know that God will get you through this. You need to remember that He will, too. This is ugly, and this hurts, and part of it is probably God humbling you (I say that because your tone sounds similar to my own and when I write like how you wrote, I was being humbled), and not knowing where a house or a job or even food will come, let alone all of Isaac's needs can be terrifying, BUT (of course there's a but), perseverance is the mark of a saint, and James 1 is a great reminder of that. I still find anger just below the surface and ready to wear it's ugly head at times when I least expect it. <br />I know that we must all face trials and that sometimes they are tests of just how strong our faith is. Looking back, its easy to see the lesson in the trial, but as you are going through it, it's hard to see any sort of light. I know that you are stressed. That things are SO not going the way you had planned, but I also know this. You are loved. Not just by your son, your family, and your God, but by me. You are stronger than the tears. You are stronger then the fears. You will achieve all the goals and needs you set for yourself. I have NO doubt in my mind... It was something later on I seemed to find a lot of my friends had it in college. I was just a person they could come to, I suppose that was from growing up with it. I have a dear friend with PTSD and I found it is very easy for them to put a smile on their face and get labeled as "fit for duty" but yet inside be tore up. <br /><br />My husband has had PTSD from being in Iraq when he was in the Army. In talking with his sister now she will say things like "I don't see why you couldn't get over it like ___ did" and name someone who had a quicker recovery. It shocked me that she has known people with it but doesn't understand it.
